Description

We are seeking a responsible, dependable and trustworthy FRONT DESK HOSTEL RECEPTIONIST to join our diverse team. Qualified candidates must maintain both a professional demeanor and character to supplement our employee pool. This is a full time position at a Hostel property in East Williamsburg near the Morgan stop on the L train.

This position entails the following:

– Ability to work a combination of 8:00AM to 4:00PM AND 4:00PM to 12:00AM Shifts
– Weekend availability is required

Job Responsibilities:

– Checking guests in and out of the hostel – serving as a general information desk with knowledge of New York sites, recommendations, and directions while providing excellent customer service
– Responding to e-mails and phone inquiries
– Researching weekly activities and events for guests
– Maintaining rates and allocations with respect to the availability
– Preparing for the next day’s guest arrivals
– Overseeing daily hostel operations and handling all types of situations
– Basic building maintenance and room checks
– Contributing to our constant growth by working on various projects that can improve our hostel’s image

Requirements:

– All candidates are required to pass a satisfactory background check
– Strong interpersonal skills, as this job requires frequent interaction and communication
– Highly organized, attention to detail, courteous, friendly, professional and amiable
– Must be hands and ready to help in other areas if needed and able to fulfill other duties
– Previous hospitality/hostel experience preferred
– Multiple languages is a plus
