Cibar at the Inn at Irving Place has been a staple bar and lounge in Gramercy park for almost 20 years. We are a very cocktail-driven bar with a lot of respect and pride put into every drink and expect the same from any member of our Cibar family.

Cibar is seeking a full-time bartender with a minimum of 2 yrs NYC (or comparable city) experience. An exceptional knowledge of classic cocktails, the ability to learn and adapt to an aggressive cocktail program and the willingness to work hard are all necessary to success in this position. Monthly spirits training class is mandatory for all front staff. Food handler’s certificate required.

This position is for someone serious about bartending and looking for a permanent, full-time job.

Primary Responsibilities:

Set up bar
Ensure room is set according to standards 10 minutes prior to service.
Greet and engage all guests.
Complete knowledge of all menu components and flow of service.
Take drink orders, offer educated suggestions and serve if required.
Maintain eye contact with guests at all times and handle any questions and issues in a professional way and bring to Managements attention immediately any such issues.
Process check/payment, “farewell” the guests and reset the table.
Complete all closing paper work and procedures.

All juices are made in-house as are tonics, bitters, tinctures, shrubs, syrups. All from scratch.
The ideal candidate for this position would have the willingness to learn and execute these recipes.
We’d like to built a tight knit bar staff that participates in a honest and open dialogue, i.e. a longer term team.

Education and Experience:

Must have completed High School Education and have proven work experience in upscale establishments and bars for a minimum of 2 years as a server and/or, experience managing is a huge plus.
