Job Description

The purpose of this position is to serve our guests delicious food in a timely manner, and ensure they have a great experience while dining at Bondi. Sushi Chefs are responsible for positive interactions while serving guests in a friendly and efficient manner, and upholding food safety standards and practices. Sushi Chefs are expected to be knowledgeable, attentive to guest’s needs, and to make them feel welcome, comfortable, and relaxed at all times. Sushi Chefs ensure menu items are always made to spec and basic cleaning needs are met. Sushi Chefs will also assist with other tasks throughout the restaurant including guest service, and deep cleaning tasks. The ideal candidate has a positive attitude, strong ability to work under pressure, and a passion for being in the kitchen.

What you’ll do:
– Make menu items to spec every single time

– Make a variety of sushi dishes, including maki, handrolls, sashimi, and nigiri

– Model exceptional customer service, maintain extensive product knowledge (including allergen information).

– Work cleanly, efficiently and accurately while ensuring all Department of Health food and safety standards are met.

What we’re looking For:
– Prior customer service, retail, and/or food and beverage experience preferred.

– At least 3 years experience with Omakase Sushi required for Sr Sushi Chefs

– NYC Food Handler’s/Food Protection License required.

– Passion for what you do –you love being a part of a team, and also thrive in fast-paced environments.

– Adaptability and flexibility– you recognize that in the food industry, anything can – and will– happen. You’re able to calmly troubleshoot issues.

– Eye for detail –you’re able to deftly switch between culinary tasks and guest service, never sacrificing the quality of either.

– Collaborative spirit and commitment to Bondi’s core values –you’re a team player and willing to lend a hand or elevate those around you. You add your own individuality to an already positive and uplifting work environment.

Shifts Needed:
– Full-time, Open Availability; night and weekend availability required
