Morgenstern’s Finest Ice Cream is a new American ice cream parlor, focused on serving texture-driven small-batch ice creams with a renewed attention to flavor and palate. Owner and founder Nicholas Morgenstern develops each recipe specifically for each individual flavor. The integrity of his ingredients are never compromised with additives or processed stabilizing. “Each ice cream is made with the flavor profile in mind first.” With this hands-on approach, Morgenstern’s looks to change the way people eat and think about this nostalgic treat, by giving ice cream lovers an entirely original and contemporary ice cream experience.

The Production Cook role at Morgenstern’s reports directly to Sous Chef, Chef, and owner.

General responsibilities include:
Maintain consistency in all food products we produce.
Prioritize daily production schedule with kitchen team.
Ensure that all food and products are prepared consistently and according to the recipes, portioning, cooking and standards of MFIC.
Manage and maintain all perishable and nonperishable ingredients through FIFO.
Collaborate when appropriate with the Chef with new menu items.
Attend all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement
Assure all necessary items are in the restaurant at the beginning of the shift. Communicate in a timely manner any needs and discrepancies for all ingredients to ensure quality standards established by the Chef.
Must have a qualifying certificate in food protection issued by New York City DOHMH.
All other duties as assigned.

Cleaning, Organization, Sanitation and Maintenance:
Help maintain all kitchen operations in accordance with New York City DOHMH standards.
Keep all areas clean at all times.
Participate in maintaining proper functioning equipment as well as a safe, clean, sanitary and well-organized working environment.
Ensure that all parlor waste is disposed of properly, and all waste is kept contained.

Required Skills:

High school diploma or equivalent.
2 years of kitchen prep and or cooking experience.
State Health Certificate.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
Ability to positively impact others.
Ability to work in a fast paced and changing environment.
Able to reach, bend, stoop and lift up to 50 lbs.
Able to work in a standing position (for up to 12 hours).
