The Northalsted Business Alliance is seeking an energetic entrepreneurial manager with proven leadership experience to manage our operations.

WHO WE ARE: The Northalsted Business Alliance (NBA) is the Chamber of Commerce for the northern strip of Halsted Street known for its large LGBTQ+ community, locally owned, independent businesses and long-term economic success.

QUALIFIED CANDIDATE: We seek a candidate with experience planning events, including production and operation (we produce festivals and a Halloween parade in conjunction with local festival production companies, as well as seminars for members, etc), strong financial background and experience being responsible for cost controls, budgeting and reporting (including familiarity with utilizing Quickbooks or similar accounting software), and who is a strong relationship-builder, to manage our organization and work with our Board of Directors to accomplish the organization’s mission of supporting our local small business community and fostering inclusivity in our neighborhood.

Duties and Responsibilities
Support the various committees in developing their plans for the year and beyond, then supporting the execution of these plans and ensuring ongoing programmatic excellence in conjunction with the Board of Directors and Committee Chairpersons.
Prepare and administer budgets in conjunction with the organization’s Treasurer, manage and communicate the financial status of the organization to the Board of Directors.
Support the creation of timelines and dedication of resources needed to achieve committee and organizational goals.
Represent the organization when engaging local businesses, elected officials, and neighbors to support the maintenance of our vibrant neighborhood and success of our business district.
Connect with other similar organizations, sharing and incorporating best practices.
Manage and support staff in all program areas and ensure that the programs support the organizations’ strategic goals, programming and activities.
Ensure effective systems to track progress, and regularly evaluate program components, effectively communicate progress to the Board, NBA members, and other stakeholders.
Learn about and support the operations and administration of Northalsted’s management of Special Service Area #18.
Be the external face of the organization, establish sound working and cooperative arrangements with community groups and organizations, our members, elected officials and neighbors.
Responsible for the recruitment, leadership and support of all personnel, paid staff and volunteers.
Maintain a climate that attracts, maintains, and motivates quality team members.

Qualifications
Candidates should demonstrate a clear commitment to Northalsted’s values and mission to support local businesses, engage community partners, and support inclusivity in our neighborhood.

Other qualifications include:
At least 3-5 years’ experience in management and skills related to the responsibilities for the position.
Excellence in organizing, multi-tasking, developing and leading high-performing teams; setting and achieving strategic objectives; working with a very active Board and its Committees; managing a budget; providing financial oversight,
Strong written and verbal communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
Experience in project management, process development, and program evaluation.

Compensation is competitive and based upon experience.
