Roman’s, a farm-driven, Italian inspired, Ft. Greene restaurant focused on excellent food and beverage service is seeking a Sous Chef to help lead our kitchen team.

Roman’s sources the highest quality imported Italian ingredients alongside local and organic meat, dairy and produce. We have forged real and lasting partnerships with our farmers and purveyors and serve outstanding food that highlights these connections and ingredients. We are a small restaurant and team focused on creating our unique and thoughtful version of Italian food and hospitality.

Responsibilities include:
– Collaborating with the Chef on menu development & planning
– Assisting the Chef in teaching, training, and mentoring all BOH staff including identifying the right stations for cooks, cross-training, coaching and counseling, assisting in the progressive discipline process, and fostering the conditions for success on team and individual levels
– Assisting the Chef in enforcing our DOH protocol and maintaining compliance
– Working with the Chef & management team to meet operating budget and grow the business
– Managing with empathy and integrity to build and strengthen our culture and staff morale

Qualifications:
– 2+ years lead Line Cook experience in a restaurant with similar commitments to sustainability & culture
– Ability to expedite a team through the flow of service in a small, intimate space
– Passion for hospitality & service
– Ability to identify and solve problems creatively
– Exceptional time management skills
– Experience with Italian ingredients or a wood-fired oven a plus
