Zooba Culture: The Assistant Restaurant Manager (ARM) serves as an Ambassador for the Zooba brand and a role model for employees and the community for Zooba’s unique values. He/she must demonstrate leadership ability to create a happy and efficient work culture in the restaurant that makes our guests and team members feel welcome and well served. The ARM must inspire Zooba’s team members to consistently deliver the highest quality products and services.

Overall Responsibility: The ARM has responsibility for the entire restaurant and culinary operation during scheduled shifts. The ARM will be expected to supervise and work all stations as required. The ARM reports to the Zooba NY Head Chef and supports tasks including but not limited to hygiene & sanitization, quality control, cost control, ordering, inventory, scheduling, training, and on-boarding, etc. The ARM will also be given one-off projects that he/she will manage completely from time to time.

Operations Management: Manage Quality Standards and SOP Adherence

• Quality: Ensure the highest quality delivery of our products and services at all times
• Standards: Ensure all quality, food safety, hygiene and service standards are met; ensure all employees understand and adhere to Zooba SOPs
• Food Preparation: Ensure all recipe, food preparation, and portion specifications are met
• Cost Control: Control costs through inventory control and by minimizing waste
• Audits: Assist implementation of internal and external restaurant audits as needed
• Facilities & Equipment: Assist in ensuring the condition of the restaurant and its equipment
• Vendors & Suppliers: Assist in managing relationships with third parties to meet branch needs

People Management: Train, Motivate and Retain Zooba Team Members

• Assist with employee relations communication for the branch
• Assist with scheduling
• Orient, train, and coach employees; clarify job expectations, roles and responsibilities as needed; provide on-the-job training; identify talent for future promotions
• Work with Zooba’s culinary team to Implement Zooba’s KSA (Knowledge – Skills – Attitudes) Certification Program for all employees; identify KSA gaps and recommend training or other solutions

Hospitality: Keep our Clients Happy and Returning

• Instill a service culture in all Zooba teams; model exceptional hospitality
• Encourage and monitor guest feedback through established mechanisms
• Monitor order turnaround times and prompt food delivery as per standards

Key Performance Accountabilities: Work with the NY Head Chef to ensure financial and operational restaurant KPIs are met for staffing levels & retention; skill acquisition; staff grooming & hygiene; cost control for waste, food safety & quality; restaurant safety and cleanliness; customer satisfaction, and other KPIs as may be determined.

Key Qualifications
• Minimum two years professional experience as a supervisor (or equivalent level) in a restaurant environment.
• Culinary degree/certificate or equivalent on-the job-experience
• Passion for food and curiosity to learn about the Egyptian food and culture
• Track record thriving in a fast-paced restaurant environment
• Passion for developing and identifying restaurant talent
• Strong sense of ownership and responsibility
• Innate sense of service always going the extra mile for the team and our guests
• Strong interpersonal and people management skills
• Financial and P&L experience a plus
• Familiarity with the Manhattan market
• NYC Department of Health Food Protection Certificate
