Description

We are looking for an experienced part time Cook to work at least 2 shifts per week (10am-6pm Sunday & Monday). Includes prepping and serve lunch and dinner for 20-24 senior residents (another staff takes care of breakfast).

We have a simple set menu, based on a 4 week rotating basis (every 4 weeks it repeats). Cook helps keeps the kitchen clean especially before leaving shift end of day (we are a commercial grade kitchen governed by the local health department similar to a restaurant). It’s a laid back job, plenty of time in the day to get things done, but the Cook does need to run the commercial grade dishwasher and handle dishes – we also have a 3 compartment sink…again there’s plenty of time between the 2 meals – it truly is a laid back gig as long as you manage your time. The Care staff will help out with serving, and bringing dishes in, but it’s a team effort so both Cook and Care staff help.

We are looking for someone reliable as the wellbeing of our senior residents depends on them getting good meals each day.

We are a family owned and managed facility, everyone knows everyone and we all work together as a team…our senior residents are a part of our family. This is not a typical Cook position like a restaurant, because it’s the home of 20+ seniors, so someone personable is ideal as the residents will get to know you and it helps if you get to know them…you’d become an extension of their family, and if you Cook well for them and are kind with them, they will truly love you.

If you have a current Servsafe or similar certification, that is ideal. Lastly, our facility as a whole is governed by the state’s health department, and they require all staff to pass a level 2 background check, so that is also a requirement if you don’t already have an active background check.
