Fort Lauderdale Marriott Pompano Beach Resort & Spa is looking for Host(ess) to join our team!

Job Description: Greet guest in a friendly and courteous manner; make appropriate seating assignment and monitor customer service. Maintain an environment that is efficient to maintain high guest satisfaction. If designated, accurately collect payments and make change to close out guest checks.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

TECHNICAL

Able to effectively deal with and resolve conflict situations, such as inaccurate check totals.
Ability to read and speak the English language sufficient to understand menus and special promotions, and communication with guests.
Able to operate a keyboard and POS procedures to handle cashier functions.
Able to sit and/or stand and work continually in confined spaces.
Comply with accounting guidelines regarding receipt of payments, check total verification, tip disbursement, cash drawer and house bank management.
Balance house bank at the end of the shift.
Retrieve and return bank from vault to work station and return, to ensure accountability.
Read, maintain and make daily entries in the log-book to coordinate communication between shifts and management.
Maintain proper set up of dining room and bar area.
Basic mathematical skills necessary to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks, count total bank, prepare cash drops.
GUEST RELATIONS

Foster guest satisfaction. In the event of guest dissatisfaction, tactfully negotiate accommodation, and inform the appropriate management team member.
Be readily available/ approachable for all guests.
Take proactive approaches when dealing with guest concerns. Follow property specific second effort and recovery plan.
Ensure staffing levels allow team members to exceed guest needs.
Extend professionalism and courtesy to guests at all times.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of supportive functions, determined by the GM:

The hotel operates 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Schedules must accommodate fluctuating business demands and associates may be asked to work shifts other than those they prefer or normally work.
Carry out all reasonable requests by leadership team.
Comply with department uniform and appearance standards.
